Nestled within the lush landscapes of Puducherry, Aurovanam continues to grow as a space of ecological learning, mindful living, and soulful connection with the natural world. The month of June 2025 brought with it new visitors, meaningful celebrations, and innovations that strengthen our commitment to sustainability.
A total of 18 individuals visited Aurovanam this month, engaging in guided walks through our carefully restored Tropical Dry Evergreen Forest (TDEF) ecosystem. These explorations introduced visitors to rare native plants, sustainable land-use practices, and Aurovanam’s role as a living laboratory for environmental education.
Each visit is designed to spark curiosity and deepen understanding of local biodiversity—an immersive experience in what it means to live in harmony with our bioregion.
Aurovanam was also the setting for a heartwarming Auro Joy birthday celebration in June. Unlike conventional parties, this event offered a soulful alternative rooted in tradition and ecological alignment. The highlight of the experience was the planting of a birth tree as per the birthday individual’s zodiac sign—symbolizing personal growth, renewal, and harmony with cosmic rhythms.
Other elements included lighting of diyas, a conscious treasure hunt, and handwritten wishes launched on paper boats—offering guests a moment of quiet reflection, joy, and connection with nature and one another.
In our efforts to continuously demonstrate green technologies, a solar dryer—designed and fabricated by the team at Svarnim Puducherry—was installed at Aurovanam this month. This energy-efficient tool will be used to dry fruits, herbs, and vegetables in a climate-friendly manner while serving as a learning model for sustainable food systems.
The solar dryer represents our ongoing exploration of solutions that merge science, sustainability, and local resilience.
If you have an innovative idea for bringing a positive change in Puducherry, please join hands by sharing it with us in driving Puducherry to become a model Union Territory.
