In March 2026, the team undertook a series of impactful initiatives aimed at promoting water awareness, strengthening groundwater monitoring systems, and encouraging sustainable practices among students and local communities. These efforts reflect a holistic approach to environmental stewardship, combining scientific data collection, community engagement, and youth empowerment to foster long-term ecological resilience.

A key highlight of the month was the successful organization of the Auro Star Award event, designed to recognize and celebrate the sporting spirit among students from government schools. This initiative sought to encourage holistic development by promoting physical fitness, discipline, and teamwork. Students were selected based on well-defined criteria, including outstanding performance, sportsmanship, dedication, and most improved performance. Eight students were honored from each of the following institutions: M.L. Poganvannam – Kalapet; Deepa Oli School – Thondamanatham; Government Primary School – Vambupet; and IMM School – Reddiyarpalayam. The program inspired students to pursue excellence beyond academics while instilling values of perseverance, leadership, and healthy competition.

Alongside youth engagement activities, the team continued its commitment to environmental sustainability through systematic groundwater monitoring. Comprehensive data was collected from 80 villages across Puducherry, offering valuable insights into groundwater availability, seasonal variations, and water quality. This large-scale data collection plays a crucial role in understanding regional water trends and supports evidence-based decision-making for sustainable resource management.

Further strengthening these efforts, fortnightly observations were conducted at 22 designated monitoring locations. At each site, key parameters related to groundwater levels and water quality were assessed and documented. These continuous observations enable the identification of fluctuations, potential risks, and long-term trends, ensuring the safety, reliability, and suitability of drinking water for local communities.

The findings from these monitoring initiatives contribute significantly to informed planning, conservation strategies, and climate-resilient water management. Moreover, they serve as valuable educational tools, fostering awareness among students and community members about the importance of responsible water use and environmental preservation.

Overall, the activities carried out in March 2026 highlight the team’s unwavering commitment to sustainable development, community empowerment, and environmental conservation. By integrating scientific monitoring with awareness programs and youth recognition initiatives, the project continues to pave the way for a water-secure and environmentally conscious future.
