From microscopic life forms to magnetic forces, June offered students a journey through the wonders of science. Interactive STEM sessions encouraged learners to question, observe, experiment, and uncover the scientific principles that shape the world around them. Through practical demonstrations, classroom discussions, and activity-based sessions, students were encouraged to explore scientific concepts, ask questions, and develop critical thinking skills.
In observance of World Environment Day, special environmental awareness sessions were conducted to encourage students to appreciate and protect the natural world. Students learned about the importance of biodiversity, environmental conservation, and sustainable practices through engaging discussions and nature-based activities. As part of these celebrations, educational sessions on Types of Leaves and Leaf Arrangements were conducted at Government Primary School, Vambupet and Government Primary School, Pethu Chettipet. These sessions helped students identify different leaf structures, understand their role in plant growth, and appreciate the diversity of local flora through observation and interactive learning.
We also introduced students to the fascinating world of microorganisms through the topic “Invisible Living Beings Beyond Our Naked Eyes.” Students discovered how bacteria, fungi, protozoa, and other microscopic organisms play essential roles in ecosystems, agriculture, health, and daily life. The sessions encouraged scientific curiosity by helping students understand that many living organisms exist beyond what we can see with the naked eye.
Another important biology topic covered was “Life Processes in Animals,” where students explored the essential functions that sustain life, including nutrition, respiration, circulation, excretion, and reproduction. Interactive explanations and activities enabled students to understand how different organ systems work together to maintain the health and survival of living organisms.
In Physics, students participated in sessions on Electricity, where they learned about electric circuits, conductors, insulators, and the safe use of electricity in everyday life. This was complemented by Exploring Magnets, an activity that introduced students to magnetic materials, magnetic poles, attraction and repulsion, and the practical applications of magnetism in daily life and technology.
The Chemistry component focused on Acidic, Basic, and Neutral Substances, enabling students to distinguish between different types of substances based on their properties and everyday examples. Through demonstrations and discussions, students learned about the importance of pH in daily life, food, agriculture, and environmental science.
To assess students’ prior understanding and tailor future learning, Chemistry Pre-assessment Examinations were also conducted, helping educators identify learning levels and strengthen subsequent classroom instruction.
Through these engaging STEM sessions, students developed stronger scientific observation skills, environmental awareness, and a deeper appreciation for the practical applications of science. The programme continued to make science enjoyable, relevant, and accessible, fostering curiosity and encouraging students to become confident, lifelong learners.
