Robotics & Machine Learning Summer Camp – May 2025

Summer is not just a season of holidays—it’s a season of possibilities. At Svarnim Puducherry, we believe in transforming these possibilities into powerful learning experiences. With the support of INSPA Robotics, we launched the Robotics Summer Camp 2025, a hands-on learning program designed to ignite curiosity and build future-ready skills among school students.

SUMMER CAMP REPORT

  • Date: 5th – 30th May 2025
  • Venue: Ground Floor Hall, Sri Aurobindo Society, Aurovanam, Poothurai, Puducherry
  • Organizers: Svarnim Puducherry & Sri Aurobindo Society, Pondicherry
  • Technical Partner: INSPA ROBOTICS, Puducherry
  • Participants: 133 students from government and private schools (Grades 6 and above)
  • Format: 4 batches, each running for 5 weekdays
 
Objective

The camp aimed to introduce students to the fast-evolving fields of Robotics and Machine Learning through hands-on activities, real-world electronics, animation-based programming, and AI-driven concepts. The core objective was to foster essential 21st-century skills—such as coding, logical reasoning, and problem-solving—among school students from varied backgrounds.

Day-Wise Activity Summary

 
Day 1: Foundations
  • Introduction to Robotics & Coding
  • Machine Learning: Basics, Pattern Recognition & Decision-Making
  • Microcontrollers: ESP32/Arduino Overview, I/O functions
  • Introduction to PictoBlox: Visual programming interface

Hands-on Projects:

  • Tobi Walking Animation
  • LED Blinking & Toggling Programs
  • Serial Monitor LED Control

Game Animations:

  • Ghost Game
  • Cat & Mouse Game
  • Beetle & Apple Catch Game

 

Day 2: Display Logic
  • Seven Segment Display Programming
  • Manual Counter Interface
  • LED Lighting Effects with Multiple LEDs

 

Day 3: Sensors & Interaction
  • Introduction to IR, Touch & Ultrasonic Sensors
  • Sensor-Based LED and Animation Control

PictoBlox Simulations:

  • Sensor Data Display
  • Touch-Based Door Animation
  • Emotion Animation using IR sensor input

 

Day 4: Advanced Hardware
  • Dot Matrix Display: Name Scrolling & Pattern Display
  • LCD Display: Real-time Text Output
  • Assembling a 2-Wheel Robotic Vehicle
  • Motor Driver, Chassis & Sensor Integration

Day 5: Applied AI & Robotics

  • Robot Movement Programming using PictoBlox
  • Introduction to Machine Learning Concepts
  • Data Training & Predictive Behavior

Final Projects:

  • Line Follower Robot (IR Sensors)
  • Obstacle Avoider Robot (Ultrasonic Sensors)
