The STEM programme at Svarnim Puducherry encourages students to explore scientific concepts through practical activities, observation and experimentation. By connecting classroom learning with real-world experiences, the initiative aims to nurture curiosity, strengthen conceptual understanding and develop problem-solving skills among students.

Learning Science Through Experiments

STEM sessions introduced students to a range of scientific concepts, including the measurement of length and motion, magnets, and the properties of acidic, basic and neutral substances. Through guided activities and hands-on exploration, students were encouraged to observe how different materials behave, understand scientific principles and relate their learning to everyday experiences.

Activities involving measurement and motion helped students explore the importance of accurate observation and measurement in understanding the physical world. Experiments with magnets introduced them to magnetic properties and interactions, while activities involving acidic, basic and neutral substances helped them understand how materials can be identified and classified according to their properties.

These practical experiences encouraged students to ask questions, make observations and draw conclusions based on what they discovered. By engaging directly with scientific concepts, students could move beyond theoretical explanations and develop a clearer understanding of how science works in everyday life.

Encouraging Curiosity and Critical Thinking

The programme places emphasis on learning through exploration rather than memorisation alone. Students are encouraged to investigate, test their understanding and learn from their observations. This approach helps develop critical thinking, logical reasoning and the confidence to approach unfamiliar problems.

Hands-on activities also create opportunities for students to work collaboratively, share ideas and discuss their findings with their peers. Through these interactions, they learn to consider different perspectives, communicate their observations and develop solutions together.

Building a Foundation for Future Learning

By introducing students to scientific principles through engaging and practical activities, the STEM programme seeks to build a strong foundation for further learning in science and related disciplines. The sessions help students recognise the relevance of scientific knowledge beyond textbooks and encourage them to approach the world with curiosity and an enquiring mind.

Through continued experiential learning, Svarnim Puducherry aims to make science more accessible, meaningful and enjoyable, empowering students to become confident learners who observe carefully, think critically and explore the world around them.
