Assessing groundwater quality is an important step towards understanding local water conditions and supporting informed water management. As part of its water quality analysis initiative, Svarnim Puducherry continued the testing and compilation of borewell water samples collected across Puducherry.

During the reporting period, pH and sodium analysis was carried out on 201 borewell samples collected during the first phase. Chloride analysis was completed for samples collected during both the first and second phases, while the results for pH and sodium from the first phase were being compiled. Analysis of calcium and magnesium in the borewell samples was also in progress.

The broader water quality assessment examined parameters including pH, oxidation-reduction potential (ORP), electrical conductivity (EC), total dissolved solids (TDS) and salinity. Initial observations indicated site-specific variations in pH, ORP, EC and TDS, while salinity levels remained generally low and stable across the monitored locations.

By systematically analysing water samples and compiling the results, the initiative is building a clearer picture of groundwater quality across the region. This scientific assessment supports a better understanding of local water conditions and contributes to ongoing efforts towards responsible water resource management.
