Art and Craft Centre Visit
On March 14, 2026, children from the village visited the Art and Craft Village as part of the Water Festival activities. During the visit, they watched a documentary film and participated in drawing sessions inspired by nature and water.

The children explored various stalls showcasing diverse handicrafts and traditional art forms. Highlights of the visit included the Wildlife Art Gallery, home décor and textile displays, handmade bags, leather goods, coconut shell crafts, and terracotta pottery.

This enriching experience sparked creativity, provided new perspectives, and deepened the children’s appreciation for art, culture, and environmental themes.

Women’s Day Celebration at Aranganur
On March 15, 2026, the Periyar Study Centre in Aranganur celebrated International Women’s Day with local women and children. The programme featured songs, games, and interactive activities that highlighted the vital role of women in society.

The event encouraged active participation and fostered a spirit of unity and celebration, making it both meaningful and joyful for the community.

Water Fest 2026
As part of Water Fest 2026, teachers at the study centre organized writing and drawing competitions on themes such as “Water Resources in My Village” and “The Pond in My Village and Its History.” Children participated enthusiastically, expressing their ideas through creative writing and artwork.

A unique aspect of the activity involved children gathering insights from three generations—grandparents, parents, and peers. This helped them understand traditional knowledge and diverse perspectives on local water resources. Engaging discussions with teachers, parents, and friends further enhanced their communication, research, and critical thinking skills, while fostering awareness about water conservation.

The winners were honoured during the valedictory programme held on March 22, 2026, at Mulodai. Prizes were awarded to the first, second, and third place participants, recognizing their creativity and efforts.

A special highlight of the event was a boat ride on a small lake, which was a first-time experience for many children and teachers. This memorable activity brought immense joy and added a unique experiential learning element to the celebration.

Overall, Water Fest 2026 not only celebrated the achievements of the children but also inspired them to remain engaged in environmental conservation and community-based learning initiatives.
