During March 2026, the ORC team at Svarnim Puducherry continued its commitment to strengthening community well-being through awareness programmes, outreach initiatives, and participatory learning activities. With a special focus on mental health, women’s empowerment, child protection, and life skills, the month’s activities aimed at building confidence, awareness, and resilience among children, adolescents, and women.
Theme: Finding Your VoiceVenue: Anganwadi Centre, BoomiyanpetParticipants: 28 (women, adolescents, and children)
A community awareness programme on “Finding Your Voice” was conducted to promote emotional well-being and mental health awareness among women. The session addressed common concerns such as stress, emotional overload, and the challenges of balancing multiple roles and responsibilities.
Through interactive discussions and simple activities, participants were encouraged to build self-confidence, understand their self-worth, and express their thoughts openly. The programme also focused on breaking myths and stigma surrounding mental health, reinforcing that seeking help is a sign of strength.
The session was well-received, with participants actively sharing their experiences, fostering a supportive and empathetic environment.
A Women’s Day programme was organized at Pavanar Nagar Anganwadi, bringing together community women in a spirit of celebration and awareness. The event emphasized the importance of women’s roles in society and encouraged unity, confidence, and empowerment.
Awareness on POCSO ActVenue: GHS, KodathurParticipants: 13 girls and 21 boys
A session on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act was conducted to educate students about child safety and legal protections. Participants learned about different forms of abuse, the importance of reporting, and the rights of children to a safe environment.
Empowering Girls, Shaping the FutureVenues: GHS, Kodathur and GHS, DharmapuriParticipants: 13 girls & 23 boys; 30 girls & 35 boys
This gender sensitization and women’s empowerment programme focused on promoting equality and respect in society. Through interactive activities and discussions, students explored gender roles, stereotypes, and the importance of equal opportunities. The session encouraged shared responsibilities and mutual respect among all genders.
Life Skill EducationVenue: Vuthavi Karangal (Girls’ and Boys’ Homes)Participants: 25 girls and 35 boys
Sessions were conducted on essential life skills, including self-awareness, interpersonal relationships, empathy, decision-making, time management, and problem-solving. Students actively participated and found the sessions engaging and beneficial.
Time Management and EmpathyVenue: Vuthavi KarangalParticipants: 30 boys and 30 girls (Tagore Arts and Science College, Lawspet)
This session focused on developing critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and effective time management. Students responded with enthusiasm and appreciated the practical relevance of the activities in their daily lives.
From this month onward, regular parental counselling sessions have been initiated to strengthen family support systems and enhance child development outcomes.
The team contributed as judges at the National Science Exhibition 2026 held at Vuthavi Karangal Samuganala Thodar Kalvi Iyakkam, encouraging innovation and scientific thinking among students.
