STEM Club: Exploring Science through Hands-on Learning

The STEM Club sessions offered students a dynamic and engaging platform to explore key concepts in Biology through hands-on learning, observation, and interactive discussions. These sessions were designed to move beyond textbook learning, encouraging students to think scientifically, ask questions, and apply their knowledge to real-life situations.

The sessions began with plant identification and the study of plant cells, where students explored various types of plants and learned to observe and distinguish their features. They were introduced to the structure and function of plant cells and gained an understanding of the process of photosynthesis. Through guided explanations and discussions, students learned how plants prepare their own food and the vital role they play in sustaining life on Earth. This activity helped strengthen their observation skills and deepened their appreciation for the natural environment.

Building on this foundation, students participated in food testing experiments to identify essential nutrients such as starch, proteins, and fats in different food samples. Using simple experimental methods, they were able to observe chemical reactions and understand how various nutrients are present in the food they consume daily. This practical approach not only made learning enjoyable but also introduced students to basic laboratory techniques and scientific procedures.

The sessions further focused on nutrition, where students explored the importance of a balanced diet and the role of different nutrients in maintaining overall health and well-being. They discussed various food groups, their functions, and the consequences of poor dietary habits. These discussions encouraged students to reflect on their own eating patterns and understand the importance of making healthy food choices.
