Bridge Education continues to create opportunities for children to learn, explore and develop essential skills through academic support, experiential learning and community participation. With the establishment of a new centre in Kalapet, the initiative takes another step towards making educational support more accessible while encouraging students to become active contributors to their communities.
The opening of a new Bridge Education Centre in Kalapet marks an important step in extending the programme’s reach to more children. The centre aims to provide a supportive learning environment where students can strengthen their academic foundations, receive guidance in their studies and develop confidence in their abilities.
Beyond classroom learning, Bridge Education encourages children to participate in activities that nurture curiosity, creativity and responsibility. The new centre creates further opportunities to combine academic assistance with interactive learning experiences, helping students engage with their lessons in meaningful and enjoyable ways.
In an initiative that brought learning beyond the classroom, students from the Kalapet Study Centre volunteered in the plantation of 3,500 palm seeds along Kalapet Beach. The activity offered students an opportunity to participate directly in an environmental initiative while developing a stronger sense of responsibility towards their surroundings.
Through their collective effort, the students experienced the value of community participation and the importance of contributing to environmental conservation. Activities such as these help children understand that caring for nature involves practical action, cooperation and a commitment to the well-being of future generations.
The plantation initiative also encouraged students to look beyond their individual responsibilities and recognise how collective efforts can contribute to environmental improvement. By taking part in the activity, they had the opportunity to connect their learning with real-world concerns and understand their role in building more environmentally conscious communities.
At the Bridge Education Centre, mathematics learning was made more interactive through the use of Judo Cubes to understand algebraic formulae. Instead of relying solely on written explanations and memorisation, students explored mathematical concepts using a hands-on learning approach.
Using physical learning materials can help students visualise abstract mathematical ideas, identify relationships between quantities and understand how algebraic expressions work. By manipulating the cubes and engaging with the concepts practically, students are encouraged to explore patterns, follow logical steps and build a clearer understanding of algebra.
This activity reflects the programme’s emphasis on making education accessible and engaging through experiential learning. When students can see and work with mathematical concepts, they have more opportunities to connect theory with practice, ask questions and develop confidence in solving problems.
